Animals don't care if you're polite to them! I'm not saying that they should be disciplined beyond what's necessary, but most don't comprehend whether there's a "please" or not attached to the sentence - why would I assume otherwise, fire or not?! If it's intelligent enough to understand politeness, it should understand that it's rude to bite in the first place!
