ardent: (And turning all against one)

Ah, that...

[Ishimaru steps back a bit, looking over that particular line before fixing his gaze on Naegi again.]

Someone here told me that, actually! And I thought the same thing at first - it sounds horrible with no context to it!

[He folds his arms across his chest, not seeming to care that he's liable to get chalkdust on his sleeves in the process; at least they're white.]

The person who gave that particular set of words to me is deceased himself, where he comes from; I was told to think of it as a reminder for the present, not a warning for the future - that nothing is really over until it's over, and that as long as we have life somewhere, then we need to do what we can, while we're still alive to do it! No matter what happens back home, we have life here, and we still have a future, and as such we need to keep living and to make things as right by others as we can; it would be wasteful and disrespectful to do anything else!

[His gaze darts away momentarily, uncertain, before he forces himself to resume...something passing for eye contact. As much as he usually offers.]

Knowing what I do about what happens back in Hope's Peak...it's difficult, sometimes. Those words have helped me greatly here.
