Now that's an interesting idea. At first thought it doesn't seem all that rare, but the more I think about it, the more examples occur to me that remind me that even some of the most morally upstanding people I know seem to have difficulty restraining themselves at points.

It's difficult to place your starting point at "literally anything is possible", but when you get there it's surprisingly liberating. Being willing to accept any story, no matter how ludicrous, as at least possibly true makes this whole universe we've been thrown into even more amazing. That's not to say you necessarily believe anything you're told, but if you can give people the benefit of the doubt, you'll find your world growing bit by bit. Or at least that's been my experience.
