[Well, given that it's Ishimaru, he's almost always busy; today, however, it's a familiar sort of busy, given that he's got study materials all over the table in the kitchen, hands closed tightly around a cup of something that steams in front of him. It's been a little warmer for the past few days, but there's no telling when the temperatures are going to start to dip again; judging from the boots and the tight white pants he's got on he's still rocking the school uniform pretty hard, but that trendy-as-hell hoodie (with the white and the red-and-black and the...zippers, um) is making another appearance.

All in all, he seems pretty content, going over one of the books on the mythology surrounding the Ruins of Alph in front of him when Naegi approaches him; he seems a little surprised but generally unbothered, though the usual severity in his expression isn't really lessening any. But then, that's pretty much par for the course.]

Of course, Naegi-kun! Did you need something in particular?

I just need some of your time. [ A pause. ] Um, something happened when all that weird stuff was going on last week.

I...I see.

[...oh, god.

That immediately gets his attention, anyway; he's aware that those weird three-day time periods tend to bring some things that aren't...very good, sometimes. Last time was Ishida, on his end; he can't exactly be sure what happened with Naegi this time around, but.]

Go on, then!

[ Naegi heard about Ishida being a thing that happened back then, though he doesn't remember a bit from those three days. This time his memory of what happened hasn't been completely wiped, although most of it is rather fuzzy and unclear. But there's one thing he remembers with clarity: ]

I encountered Junko Enoshima.

[He tenses quite a bit at that, his hands tightening around that cup of tea he's got in front of him; his eyes close for a moment as he tries to settle himself, and for the most part it works.]

Did she -

[He cuts himself off through habit; it's not fair to simply assume she did anything, is it? Even if it was Enoshima - ...ah.]

You're certain that it was Junko Enoshima, first of all, and not Mukuro Ikusaba?

[ This is probably a good time to pull out a chair and sit down... so let's just do that. ]

I am. She had Monobear hairclips and her face looked different. Her personality was different, too.

[...That...might be good, yes.]

...I can make you tea, if you'd like. It seems as though you need it.

Either way, though, talk to me about it. What happened?

[ He nods in response. ] ...I'd like that, Ishimaru-kun.

[ ... ]

Um, t-there was an exploding Eevee, and...I tackled Enoshima out of the way.

[Ishimaru nods and immediately sets to it, as far as the tea goes; it tends to be calming, if nothing else, and god knows he's needed a lot of it on off days. And, well, it sounds like Naegi's having kind of an off day.

...it's fortunate that his back is turned to put water on when that second statement hits; he can't really be sure what his face just did, but it was likely nothing good, and it takes him a moment to relax because wow he could have sworn Naegi just said that he...]

So you saved her life.

Yes. That's what I did.

[ It was a decision made in a split second and he didn't have the time to actually think it over properly, but he knew what he was doing and whose life he was going to save. He's not going to pretend otherwise. ]

Why?

[The question is blunt, his tone hard; there's no genuine anger behind it, at least, but it's clear that he's not exactly pleased.]

If someone's about to get caught in an explosion, I can't just stand there and let it happen.

[ His tone is a bit quieter than usual, but it's calm and without stutters or "ums". ]

[Mnngh.

What's killing him right now is the fact that he can see where that's fair and arguably the right thing to do, but...]

We allowed our classmates to die, because of her.

I know that, Ishimaru-kun.

[...all right. Just. Have some tea, Naegi-kun, let it steep for a minute and he'll rejoin you at the table and we'll try to work through what an utter clusterfuck this is.]

We would all be well within our rights to allow her to die, in that sort of situation.

I don't think I could ever allow someone to die like that, no matter what that person has done.

...Is it because it seems too close to deciding who lives and who dies again?

...Something like that, maybe. I'm not sure.

...I think you're just a good person, Naegi-kun. There's no shame in that, but there still needs to be a limit to your generosity.
