I think we do something like that, too. The only thing I really remember about having to go to school is they took me in and I had to have parents because they signed a bunch of forms while I waited. And then they made me go into a little room with carpet on the walls and I had to do a ton of tests in front of an old lady.

It's the stuff where they make you look at pictures and say what it makes you feel like, right? Do they do that for high school?

Maybe! But our exams are entirely academic - English, mathematics, social studies and science, I think, would be what's on yours. We had a section on Japanese as well, but you probably wouldn't have to do that. For obvious reasons.

Yeah, the only Japanese I know is the stuff you taught me.

Well, I mean...I thought maybe they'd make you prove you were normal or something. Something I maybe wouldn't be that...good at.

[She kind of lets out a breath, almost, like she'd been holding it without precisely realizing it, and that's possibly the only tell of how much she'd actually been dwelling on the possibility that maybe she couldn't go to high school because she wasn't...something enough.]

Hope's Peak was kind of a strange case - their rules for acceptance were a lot different. But high school in general was a matter of academics, not really...anything like what you were describing earlier.

You had to do that to go to school, you said...?

When I went, yeah. They made me take a bunch of tests. Showing me pictures, asking how they made me feel. Sometimes there'd be two people and I'd have to make up a story about them, or say what I thought they felt like one at a time.

I probably got a lot of them wrong.

...For what it's worth, it sounds like something I wouldn't have done very well on either.

Sure you would've. If it was required to get into school, you would've studied really hard until you knew you could pass it, and then you would've been fine.

Maybe. That seems like one of those things that can't be taught very easily, though.

Yeah. They're a little more high-risk than security systems. Less forgiving of error, but not by much.
