It is! I don't really know most of the older class that well - this is my first time meeting them - but my classmates and I have been through a lot together, and it's good to have their company even if I don't always get along with them.

My brother is here again, which is nice; he was sent home for a while, but he returned recently. One of them was sent home a few days ago; two others just came back. So we come and go, but we're looking for a way to bring everyone here.

Sounds like people come and go here a lot...I hope the rest of your classmates come back, though!

Sort of. I've been here eleven months so far; it'll be a year in April. We don't know what makes some people stay and what makes them go yet, though.

Do you have any friends you'd want brought here?

Uh huh! My two best friends, Beezy and Heloise. We do stuff all the time together, so it's....kinda weird being here without them.

[And be glad it WAS Jimmy. Beezy is something of a hot mess when left to his own devices, and Heloise is literally unable to function correctly without Jimmy around, so there you go.]

Well, like I said, my friends and I are looking for a way to bring people here. Maybe we can help you too, if you want!

Um, well....have you ever heard of a place called Miseryville?

It is, really. I figured you wouldn't have, though....from what I know, Miseryville is a completely different world than what most everyone else comes from.

[...Ah. Maybe it's like Mikasa's world, then...no harm in asking, surely.]

Completely different? How so?

Well....for one thing, both the sky and the water in Miseryville is always red. It's kinda hot a lot, so I wasn't ready for how cold it got at night here. There are two suns, and lots of monsters...but not like, Pokemon. They're-

Miseryville is called Miseryville because our ruler's job is to make everyone's lives as miserable as possible, every day and every night.

...I know a girl who would like it there, if that's the case. She would probably help your ruler, even.

Are you all right with being there?

Oh yeah, of course! I love it in Miseryville. I mean all my friends are there, and...it's the only place I've ever lived.

I can understand that - I've never really been anywhere outside of the place I grew up, either. Sometimes things were difficult, but it was still home, I guess.

Yup. Miseryville might be bad sometimes, but it's still home. You know, I kinda miss it already...and I haven't really been here all that long.

I don't miss mine, so I can't say I know what it feels like, unfortunately. It's a shame, though, that you feel that way.

It's ok! Whether or not I'm here for a while, as long as I have friends to talk to everything will be fine. All you guys I've met so far have made sure of that.

[Admittedly, he wouldn't know what he would do if he were truly alone, here. It's one thing not to have parents or even a guardian to keep watch over you, but it's entirely another to have nobody at all.]

There are a lot of good people here. I didn't really have friends before coming here, but I've made a few since then.

That's great, Ishimaru! Everybody deserves to get to have friends.

Of course I do! I mean...even the worst people have friends sometimes, don't they? Having somebody there to talk to, or to just be there when you need them is something we should all get to have.

I never did before, for a lot of reasons. My brother was the first friend I'd made, and I didn't meet him until a couple of weeks before I was brought here.

Ah...I was usually busy studying, because it was very important that I stayed at the top of my class; I couldn't afford to fall behind. I also had my duties as head of the disciplinary committee to see to.

Now I still study a lot, but it's not like it was before. Not to the exclusion of everything else, anyway. I'm told that's a good thing.
