003. Video/Action for Cherrygrove City, and also one other thing

[PRIVATE VIDEO TO COLONEL ARCHER]

[The video is short, only a few seconds long; the most that can really be gleaned from the background for the time being is that it sounds like there's ocean nearby, the surf splaying up against the rocks in the background. Ishimaru isn't really wasting time; he's here to say his piece and then move on, clearly.]

Good afternoon, Colonel Archer! I've done what you asked of me, with regards to getting Pokémon to be researched - I'm awaiting further instructions!

Thank you in advance for your time!

[For once the feed is showing somewhere other than Goldenrod when it flickers on; Ishimaru seems to have taken up refuge on one of the larger rocks near the beach in Cherrygrove. He's not too high up, because there's no sense in risking literally falling into what would surely be a really anticlimactic set of injuries; his expression on the video is still rather severe, but that's moreso due to just being how he is rather than him actually being displeased with anything.

Dear lord, though, is it overcast out here.]

While it troubles me to see how little people prioritize education and proper study over everything else, I understand that most see pointless activities as a -

[...he hesitates for a moment, flinching back a little and blinking at something that can't exactly be seen on the feed; he shakes his head after a second before moving on, seeming to decide that whatever small stimulus caused that isn't worth bothering with.]

...r-right, anyway!! People have been trying to explain why they engage in such senseless activities and that they don't see them as a...

...

...waste...of time...

[He twitches a little again, swiping across the bridge of his nose with two fingers and studying them intensely, as though understanding whatever he was swiping away is fundamental to saving the damn world.]

Is it raining...?

[It's about then that he looks up, and...]

...Kyohei, shut that off for a second -

[VIDEO, ABOUT TWO MINUTES AFTER THE FIRST.]

[Well! Ishimaru's no longer in view - it seems he's decided to hold the device instead - so it's a bit hard to tell if he's still got that immensely strict expression going on; however, the camera is slanted sharply skyward, toward that overcast sky. The angle isn't an error; rather, it's showing off some...rather thick white flakes falling from on high.

Snow in June? Snow in June. Thank you, mods.

Ishimaru can be heard laughing a bit in the background; the sound is oddly blunted, but it still the sound of a person that is approximately a thousand percent done with the day.]

This makes no sense whatsoever. None.

[At least it's too warm to stick for very long, though the moisture on the device is contributing to some awesome JJ Abrams lensflare effects.]

Tell me - is it doing this where any of you are as well, or...?

[The feed will shut off immediately after that's out there; those wanting action can find him wandering around Cherrygrove, looking incredulous as hell and, as Parker would describe it, he's definitely appreciating the sky today because good lord he cannot stop staring at this.

A thousand percent done.]

[Topic successfully diverted! Dorumon blinks for a moment, jaw dropping a little - then it registers, and he radiates quiet alarm as he half-stands and glances around. He's not quite sure what Ishimaru means, so...well, it doesn't hurt to check the obvious.]

What do you mean?
digitalorunknown: (neutral - tentative)

[personal profile] digitalorunknown 2013-06-28 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. [It had sort of occurred to him that it was a bad thing when the cold got uncomfortable, but not that there was too much of a problem beyond the discomfort itself. He makes that noise of comprehension, then relaxes a little, looking calm and attentive but still ready to snap back into alarm mode in case of any more surprises.]

I don't have any other clothes. [He's giving Ishimaru his full attention, expecting more words. Since. That seems to be a safe bet.]
digitalorunknown: (doof - bloop)

[personal profile] digitalorunknown 2013-06-28 03:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[Got it and got it. Dorumon stands up, nodding gravely, and the camera begins doing that gentle jostling thing that means the person holding it is walking.]

We're almost to the city. He assumes that's where one goes about getting a jacket.] Shelgon...! [Noise noise noise. Discontent dragons yelling a lot, small humans trying to calm them down, things being returned to Pokeballs OKAY let's get this show on the road now.

Phew.]
So...why are you worried about wasting time?
digitalorunknown: (doof - bip)

[personal profile] digitalorunknown 2013-06-28 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Hobbies... [He makes a quiet "hum" noise and looks up past the Pokegear, walking and thinking. Hobbies, like...like what, building things? He's actually not sure what that covers; a hobby is only called that when it's something "extra" in your life, and without any expectations of what you'll spend your life doing, everything sort of ends up on the same level of priority. If it's not finding food or shelter or otherwise keeping yourself alive and well, an activity is only as important as you want it to be.

...Or so he feels. By the way, what's this school thing you keep mentioning?

Dorumon looks back down after a few seconds.]
Traveling? [Seeing new things is fun.] What are you used to doing?
digitalorunknown: (neutral - surprise)

[personal profile] digitalorunknown 2013-06-28 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[....ehhhnnnnnh yeah things like "order" and "discipline" and "following rules" don't have the most pleasant connotations in Dorumon's experience. His first, instinctual reaction to hearing that is to look very uncertain, staring like he's a deer and Ishimaru's just announced an enthusiastic interest in bow hunting.

He's not completely put off - he's been there himself, sort of, and he understands that his own world is a case study in really terrible management and that authority shouldn't be like that, and in any case Ishimaru radiates honesty vibes, so...

But...

...h-hm.]
Oh. Well... [Actually, you know what? That makes total sense. He tries to imagine Omegamon dealing with an aimless, disorderly lifestyle, and - yep. Ishimaru is a Rules Person (if not actually Lawful Stupid, he hopes, though not in those terms)...

...it's kind of funny. Dorumon relaxes a little, looking less startled. Okay, the rules part makes sense, but hey let's go focus on the other thing for a moment]
Um, what kinds of things did you study?
digitalorunknown: (neutral - tentative)

[personal profile] digitalorunknown 2013-07-01 02:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[...Lawful Murderous, then.]

I don't know what kind of...system that is. [Dorumon is tilting his head, still tense from the surprise, but becoming more comfortable as he gathers his thoughts.] But some Digimon study things like that, too. If they're able... [Pause.] And some Digimon already know more than others do. I think it's different from - when humans are born, they don't know anything, and they have to grow up and learn it all...right?
digitalorunknown: (neg - annoyed)

video]

[personal profile] digitalorunknown 2013-07-01 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[...let's discuss that later]

I don't know how to explain it. [He gives it a try anyways, brow furrowing.] You know what you are, and what...what you're supposed to do, if there's something like that. Things like...like... [This is proving just as hard as he thought.] You learn new things when you evolve, too. Everything changes like that.

It's nothing like Pokemon, either. [Dorumon's face is scrunched up in mild frustration. He'd probably be able to explain better if he were Alphamon right now, which is really ironic considering the topic is just that.]
digitalorunknown: (doof - bip)

[personal profile] digitalorunknown 2013-07-02 12:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[This one's a lot easier to explain; the look of frustration eases.] When Shelgon evolved, I thought it was a lot like a Digimon evolving. It's not like with humans, who just grow over time...our age and our level can be different. Most Digimon don't ever reach a high level.

[thoughts pause] Shelgon's the kind that could make it that far. That's just what I think. [It's subdued as he usually is, but Dorumon's tone has a mixed note of pride and exasperation in it.]
digitalorunknown: (happy - grin)

[personal profile] digitalorunknown 2013-07-02 01:09 pm (UTC)(link)
It's called Salamence. It's a dragon Pokemon with wings, and Shelgon has been thinking about it since the moment we met.

["Thinking about it" is putting it lightly.]
digitalorunknown: (happy - smile)

He doesn't keep it a secret. He roars and stomps around and jumps from rocks and he's always looking up at the clouds.
digitalorunknown: (doof - bip)

[personal profile] digitalorunknown 2013-07-02 01:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[...So would that be more or less weird than just being an animal-turned human?]

It's Dorumon.

Yeah. [Humans are so friendly about this kind of thing. Grin!]
