012. Video/Action for Goldenrod City
[VIDEO]
[Ishimaru is outside again today, seeming to be taking advantage of the nice weather while it holds; at least he's looking at the camera today, and his gaze is shifting...a little less, maybe. He still seems a bit tired but at least he's calm; the view behind him is, once again, that square in Goldenrod near the Center.]
The place I came from put a lot of emphasis on punishment...both for what we did, and what we didn't do. Failure to act in a certain way, to do as we were told, was punished; failure to not act in the way that we were expected to was likewise punished. Rules and laws and "justice" were used to control us, not to guide or help us; instead of keeping us safe, they were used to tear us down.
No matter what we did, we were going to be wrong.
[His voice remains firm but calm through all that; he's not shouting, but he doesn't seem about to cry, either. Just...working through it, really.]
When situations are hard like that, and seem unwinnable, it's easy to forget what justice is intended for. It's meant to protect people, and most importantly, it's meant to give people hope - for themselves, and for the future!
So even if...even if you haven't always done what's right, even if you've made mistakes or taken punishment - if you choose to do right afterwards, the wrong you've done doesn't have to define you!
I think there comes a time when you deserve to be considered good again!
[...yep, there's the shouting.]
It's not going to be easy - it's something I'm still working on, too. But if we're willing to work hard and not lose hope, I think we'll all be all right, in the end! We just have to do our best.
I hope today is both good and productive for you, and if not, I know that tomorrow will be better!
[ACTION]
[Returning to Goldenrod City has been...strange.
It's not strange in the way that coming to a new place tends to be strange, or perhaps returning to an old place that's changed drastically in your absence; there's no lack of familiarity, and if anything the strangeness is caused by just the opposite - there's a weird sense of returning home to it, and Ishimaru isn't entirely sure what to do with that. He hasn't felt that way since before Hope's Peak; it's weird to experience it now, but it's not altogether unwelcome.
...granted, it's not something he has long to dwell on; he finishes the video and takes a while to just...collect himself, but eventually he heads back to the house. And as soon as he manages to get the front door opened there's a sudden sharp skittering of nails against the floor and the vibrations of twenty-odd Eevees hup-hup-hupping their way down the stairs, and he flinches a little and braces for the moment where the swarm hits -
And then there's a thud, and there is quite simply nothing.
...
... ... ...
Huh.
It takes him a moment to open his eyes, given that they'd slid closed while he was in the middle of preparing for impact; apparently the thud was the fuzzball legion all sitting in unison, and now they're just kind of parked on the floor and headtilting like confused pugs because grandpa's home and we sat and why is he just standing there.
He's clearly going to be spending some time playing with the fuzzballs today, because oh my god they did so well. c: ]

He's also been a bit overwhelmed by various things so he's taken to staring at nothing again, which is decidedly less good since it means he's kind of disappeared into his head again; the sound from the device manages to startle him back into the world, however, and he's quite suddenly aware that he's on the couch in the lounge and Eeveemaru is on his lap - he puts the poor confused thing down onto the cushion next to him while he responds, only to have the Eevee turn around and try to figure out if he can hup his way onto the back of the couch.
Ishimaru isn't paying him much mind, however, while he works on turning a video feed on.]
Thank you - my day has been fine, I just got back from traveling over a part of the region I hadn't been to before. It was exciting, but it's good to be home now!
[...]
...It looks like you're doing the same thing.
Mhm! I've been on Route 30 for, um...this is the third day, I think! Or...maybe the second...
I'm still kinda new here so I'm trying to get to Violet City.
[It was surprisingly fast going at first, but he's slowed considerably since.]
[Because he is clearly an alumnus of Special Snowflake Academy and should clearly be trusted to teach a class full of little children anything in a sane and productive manner.]
The lack of any sort of education system here still disturbs me, really...ah, but I think you'll like the city. It's nice after spending so long on the routes.
That's good to hear! Yaknow, I've...actually never been to school before..
Yeah, I think once I get there I'm gonna stay a while. I prolly should've stayed in Cherrygrove for a while before...heading to Violet City, actually.
[But if that turns out to be a mistake, then....well, lesson learned.]
Oh! My name's Jimmy, by the way. What's your name?
[Ishimaru's gaze darts to the side for a moment; Eeveemaru's worked his way up onto the arm of the couch and is currently looking at the back of it like he's trying to gauge distance.]
If we're going to introduce ourselves, we should do it properly - what's your full name? Tell me with confidence!
[...Ishimaru.]
Oh, um! My name's Jimmy, Jimmy Two-Shoes!
[Seriously.]
...Like the clothing?
[If you can't remember your own last name, clearly you should just adopt the name everyone
Luciusprobably started calling you out of spite.][video]
[...that's...]
...It's interesting, anyway!
[Ishimaru for the love of god]
[Better reaction than he could have gotten from most!
During their conversation, Lucky seems to have drifted off to sleep, eventually slipping down until he's fallen out of Jimmy's arms and into his lap completely. At least he's not trying to make off with his PokeGear again.]
..So who's your friend there?
[He nods his head a little in a gesture to Eeveemaru.]
He's one of the Eevees - we were left with a lot of them when we inherited the house! Apparently the person here before us was something of a hoarder.
Eevee, huh? He's cute!
[There's a slight stir on Jimmy's end until a Sentret pops her head up over his shoulder, staring at the screen curiously. Clearly Jimmy isn't one to keep his Pokemon in their Pokeballs too often.]
[Eeveemaru headtilts for a second before bouncing in place a couple of times on Ishimaru's lap, then bounding off to...god only knows where. Hopefully he won't bring Sayuri, Keisuke and their half-million friends.]
The Eevee line is really interesting, because they can evolve into a lot of different forms. I think there are seven that we know of, at least!
[He tips his head a little at the Sentret, though.]
That's one of the ones from the early routes, isn't it? I think a friend of mine had one, before it evolved as well.
Aw man, that's really cool! I've heard about Pokemon evolving once, or twice maybe...but seven?
[Before he can say anything else he turns his attention to the Sentret, who seems to be just eyeing the screen rather shyly, watching Ishimaru.]
Yeah, I caught her on Route 29. Cherry, this is Ishimaru!
[Naturally she doesn't really say anything- not really the talkative one of the bunch to begin with- but she does keep her attention on Ishimaru, tilting her head curiously.]
[Still, it's pretty cool.]
She's very cute, though!
Oh, right! Still, that's pretty awesome. I wonder why that is?
[The Sentret blinks at Ishimaru's compliment before promptly holding her paws in front of her face, burying it into Jimmy's shoulder. On top of being rather quiet and shy, she doesn't take all these compliments well why is everyone saying she's cute nnnnoooooooo.]
Eheh, couldn't agree more! She's really strong already too, even though she's only been with me for a little while.
[Cherry lets out a little squeak, her tail coiling around Jimmy's neck. JIMMY STOP SHE CAN'T TAKE IT.]
Well, I'm sure she'll just keep getting stronger if you raise her properly!
[Ah, and there's Eeveemaru, back with an Espeon and a Glaceon and...thankfully not the rest of the horde; the Espeon is quick to drape herself all over Ishimaru's lap like some sort of spoiled cat, while the Glaceon jumps up onto the couch and immediately begins nudging the gear because investigating.]
...these are two of the things Eevees can evolve into - Sayuri is psychic, she reads minds, and Keisuke is an Ice-type.
Jimmy holds his 'Gear a bit closer so as to get a better look at Sayuri and Keisuke.]
Wooow....so how does that work? Is there something you have to do to make sure they evolve a certain way?
[So Pokemon can evolve using items too, huh? Who'da thunk.]
...So uh....I'm just curious, but how many Eevees did the owner to that house you're in...leave you, exactly?
[From the sound of things- especially if they were a hoarder- it sounds like quite a bunch.]
[YEAH...]
...How do you keep track of so many?
Gosh...so do they all have names? ...How do you tell them apart?
[He should probably explain this, shouldn't he.]
I don't live by myself - my brother, my sister and several of my classmates all live here with me!
