Well I guess that's an alright name. Make sure you raise him to be the most badass fish in all of Johto, k? His previous trainer didn't seem to like him very much but I'm sure you can train him good.

I actually don't know his name? But we've been speaking over the network a few times. He's a bit weird; I think he's one of those guys who's from the past or a different planet, but he's fine.

Well, this one doesn't seem to have been trained at all, and he seems kind of wary; I'm wondering what the treatment he received before was like...

[Ugh, don't make him actually care about this fish, come on...]

I'll see what I can do with it, though; I've raised difficult ones before. Kamina, for example.

Now that you mentioned it...when I first released it into the bathtub it went nuts! Just went stir-crazy and nearly started a mess in the bathroom. After I yelled at him a little though he quietened down real fast and just went to the corner, didn't even struggle when I started drawing on him.

...Actually, his trainer mentioned trying to eat him once. I don't think he's an animal person.

I know right? Fucking sick. But I think he's from a place where they don't keep pets. Like...he thinks the only reason you keep animals is because they have to do something useful. Like if you had a dog, you'd use it for hunting. Hard to find a reason to keep a fish then, unless you wanna eat it later.

Well, given that Pokémon are more useful than animals back home overall, I'd think he would have found some use for it!

Don't think he saw them like that. But he just seemed really glad to give the Basculine away. He was OK about his other Pokemon though, it was just the fish that he didn't like. He wouldn't tell me why he wanted to give it away either.

...I'll have to see how it reacts to things, then. If it was his starter, some of them are a little strange sometimes, and not in a good way.

Really? Keisuke's been pretty cool so far, but maybe I just got lucky.

A fire monkey. I think it's ...Chimchar? But right now he's an Monferno. He's damn amazing in battle; he's fast and he hits hard, and he looks so fucking badass!

What's yours Ishimaru? Bet it's not as awesome as mine!

He started out as a Darumaka, but he's a Darmanitan now; I don't use him, as he's one of the ones I mentioned before - he's not very friendly, to put it nicely, and large enough to take me down easily if it got into his head to do so. I can't trust him very well, so I'm leaving him in the box for the time being.

Not really. I think there's something wrong with that one, due to something I can't discuss over the network.

Is it sick in the head? Maybe you should get it to the Pokemon Centre. Or maybe it just needs something like friendship shit. You know, show that you wanna be his buddy and get him to open up.

Yeah, you wouldn't do something like that. I just thought that maybe Pokemon get trust issues when you try to eat them.

I'd think most things would get trust issues if you tried to eat them, Kuwata-kun...

Did something happen to him before he got to you? Maybe someone else tried to cook him for lunch, and that made him mad at trainers.

I don't think anyone tried to eat him! But he was raised by people before I received him, and those people...likely weren't very good.

Poor guy. I kinda get how that feels; it's hard to trust people again after you've lived through shit.

Anyway, I don't think you should give up on your starter! But maybe you got to be less strict with him and try and win him over to you. Go out and do some fun stuff with him. Aoi likes swimming a lot, so sometimes I take her out and we go and have some fun at the river.

Well, I would hope that's the case; otherwise you'd get a reprimand for inappropriate behavior! But I'll do what I can; again, the full circumstances are something I'll have to explain to you in person sometime, I think.

And I think I have a better idea of what you're talking about now, with regards to the beginning of that; something...happened, to give me perspective. I'm surprised you're willing to keep in contact with us after all of that; I'm grateful for it, though.
